SuperStar is a planned CGI animated television series under the ZAG Power Princess brand.

As of 2024, the status of the series is unknown since production hasn't started yet.

Synopsis[]

Extremely talented musicians, singers, dancers and actors have gone through an extensive auditioning process to attend the prestigious Hollywood School of the Arts (HSA) in Hollywood, California. Not only are they here to further their respective artistic careers, but also to compete for a spot in a worldwide concert, towards the goal of achieving ultimate fame and unlocking their full potential.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Because there isn't any news about the series and Jeremy Zag doesn't acknowledge it since 2016, it's likely the project has been shelved.
  • The project's existence was first revealed on the ZAG website in 2014. According to the synopsis from the site, the series is planned to have 4 specials, 10 webisodes, a Japanese Anime OVA, and 104 episodes.[2]
    • In the 2016 version of the ZAG website, the number of episodes has been changed to 78. It also revealed that the series is going to have one song in each episode.
  • A concept art of a blonde character was revealed on Jeremy Zag's Instagram on February 4, 2015.[4]
  • A concept art of the school is revealed in the 2016 version of the ZAG website. Despite the series synopsis referring to the school as Hollywood School of the Arts, the concept art called the school "Stars Studio Academy".
  • According to the ZAG website's release timeline in 2016, it mentioned that SuperStar was planned to be released in 2018. An updated timeline in 2017 delayed the show to 2020.
  • A production model of a character named Electro was created by character modeler Stephen Anderson. The existence of the production model was revealed on his social media platforms.
    • According to Anderson on his DeviantArt, he created the production model in 2014 as a display maquette for "various animation fairs and cons that [ZAG] attended that year".[5][6]
    • As of 2021, the maquette artwork has been deleted from his ArtStation, but the turnaround for the maquette still remains on his Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, and Instagram.[7][8]
    • On April 21, 2018, Electro's production model is seen on his demo reel.[9] He later acknowledges it again for his 2020 demo reel.[10]
  • Electro appeared in Zagtoon's MIFA 30th anniversary poster in 2015.
  • Concept art for three characters are revealed on ArtStation by Axel Blanc in 2019.
